Cinema of Shadows Book Trailer

`
I came across this book trailer for the novel, Cinema of Shadows by Michael West.

It views more like a film than a standard book trailer. Even a 'twist' at the very end.

I think it's pretty darn well done. Give it a view and see what you think.

  1. That's sure different from other trailers I've seen. It is well done. I often wonder how effective book trailers really are. Do you think they are worth the effort? I'm wondering about making one for my book.

  2. I think a decent trailer helps. They're another tool, but one alone I don' think sells very many novels. I can say of all the folks who've contacted me about Flank Hawk, two said the trailer is what sold them. A few more said it got their attention to look further. I can tell you how I created mine--wasn't overly difficult.

I think Michael West's is a lot better than mine, however and I suspect it'll be far more effective in garnering interest.

  4. My general take on book trailers is they're a waste of time and money based on their return. But this one is definitely an attention grabber. I think it works because it shows rather tells. Far too many book trailers are all tell - which is kind of ironic when you think about it.

  5. Misha, it is an attention grabber!

VR, I agree, it's not worth big bucks in most instances for the payoff. But if an author can spend a few hours creating a decent one, it's a tool that can supplement. The observation about show vs. tell is right on target.
