Jurassic World Ending (Observations)

Note: If you've not seen the Jurassic World and intend to, then realize that this blog post would be a Spoiler.

I was thinking about the climactic battle between the T-Rex and the Indominus Rex that occurs at the end of Jurassic World.

I find it interesting that they're able to take one of the old nemesis from a the first movie and turn her into a hero...even a sympathetic hero. Sure, she saved the main characters at the end of Jurassic Park from the raptors, but they had to, well run.

I think they staged the battle well. She (the Tyrannosaurus Rex) bursts through the skeleton to confront the movie's main antagonist (Indominus Rex).

The T-Rex is older and a more experienced fighter, and this shows initially in the confrontation, using both teeth and head butts. Then the Indominus Rex's advantages, including size, strength and clawed forearms come into play.

As the T-Rex begins losing the fight, the music changes, pulling at the audience's emotions. If the T-Rex loses, the humans (who haven't really run at all) will still be in peril...like they wouldn't be if the T-Rex won? Although the clip I show doesn't reveal how the early battle where two of the raptors were killed and one knocked out attempting to protect their human alpha, and how the T-Rex is released and led to the battle using an emergency flare (hearkening back to Jurassic Park). Yes, if the T-Rex would've caught the red-headed heroine, the woman would've been a snack.

The look of resignation in the T-Rex's eyes as she is about to be killed by her more powerful foe...then the cavalry shows up, evening the odds.

It's on again, with the tables more balanced, the small raptor harassing the larger Indominus Rex, providing openings for her T-Rex ally. Through the fight, how the raptor is knocked aside, shakes it off and leaps right back into the titanic battle...

Now, I realized the ending (of the movie) when I saw the movie's previews...hearkening back to my reading of Raptor Red, by Robert T. Bakker. I have to believe that the writers of Jurassic World must have perused the pages of that intriguing novel.

Anyway, here's a clip of the relevant scene...see what you think...and maybe pick up a copy of Raptor Red...it will be worth your time.

I can only imagine how much more I would've loved this movie as a kid!
